Chamberlain’s Rotaract Club has been busy serving the Columbus community over the last several months. Read on to learn more about their most recent events.
Rotaract members as well as Chamberlain staff participated in the American Lung Association (ALA) “Fight for Air Climb” on Feb. 2, 2013. The event was held at the Rhodes Tower in downtown Columbus. Participants raced up 40 flights of stairs to raise money for the ALA, which is then going to send children to a week of asthma camp at Flying Horse Farms. Students and staff assisted with registration, motivated participants, monitored for potential problems in the stairwells and cleaned up after the event. We are looking forward to future collaboration with the ALA.
Barons of Business
Rotaract members attended the Rotary-sponsored “Barons of Business” event on Jan. 23, 2013. Attendees networked and listened to three of Columbus’s top business people reflect on their strategies for success both in the business world and at home.

Rotaract members volunteered at the blood drive sponsored by the DeVry/Chamberlain Student Association (DCSA). There was a great turnout of donors and the American Red Cross plans to return for another blood drive at our campus in the near future.
Pictured are Chamberlain students who either volunteered or donated blood. In Vanessa’s case, she did both! Sitting from left to right: Katie Chapman, Harlee Dingledine; Standing: Vanessa Engel, Melissa Atkinson.
Coming Soon! Purple Teen Party
Chamberlain Rotaract Club has partnered with Jewish Family Services to provide service to the community. The Rotaract Club is assisting with the preparations for the upcoming Purple Teen Party, an event which raises awareness of teen dating violence and gives adolescent girls strategies for self-empowerment. Members spent time preparing the gift bags that will be distributed to the attendees and will also be volunteering at the actual event.
