We are pleased to announce that Dr. Kathleen Hunter, PhD, RN-BC, CNE, dean of the Master of Science in Nursing Indirect Care Tracks at Chamberlain College of Nursing, has been elected to the board of directors of the American Nursing Informatics Association (ANIA-CARING). 

ANIA-CARING is designed to advance the field of nursing informatics through communication, education, research and professional activities.

“Nursing informatics is a nursing specialty that combines nursing science, information science and computer science to support decision-making by nurses and others in healthcare and healthcare-related fields,” Hunter said. “I put my name forward because I believe in supporting my professional associations as much as I am able.”

Dr. Hunter will head up the association’s research activities  for the length of her three-year term. She was formally welcomed to the board at the annual ANIA-CARING’s conference last month, with more than 400 association members in attendance.

Dr. Hunter has been a nursing and healthcare informatics expert for more than 40 years. After conducting clinical practice in critical care units for 12 years, she began practicing nursing informatics, working with end-users and with information systems design, development, testing, implementation and evaluation.
